The Origin of Evil, or Why I Believe in One Conspiracy Theory

“For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities…the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms” (Ephesians 6:12)

Probably the most neglected truth in the world today is the origin of sin and its proponents. The Bible is very clear that one very powerful being made the original wrong moral choice and is actively involved today in getting others to follow suit. His name is Lucifer or Satan and he commands an invisible empire of demonic beings that tempt, lure, blind, and influence many people.

The Bible is loaded with examples on how Satan and his cohorts tempt human beings to disbelieve God (that started with the first human beings, Adam and Eve), make wrong moral choices, and are hell bent on destroying human lives. That means that when you see deception or hear untruths whispered in your ear, or are tempted to hurt or kill someone else, then very possibly a fallen angel and his minions are playing with your mind and trying to influence you to enter into their savagery and rebellion.

This is the one conspiracy that’s worth believing in—that there is a demonic network of evil that is enticing individuals and nations to do what is wrong and reject their God-given consciences. This emphatically explains the commonness of mental depression, the lie of abortion, the phenomenon of suicide bombers, and the “voices” behind the acts of mass murderers. There is a conspiracy that is trying to control the planet—but it’s not run by conspirators in the Hague or tri-lateralists in New York. It’s supernatural and ugly—and should be rejected at all cost.

Father, help us to see our true enemies and overcome them through the power of Jesus. Amen.
