A “Kairos Moment!”

“If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land.” 2 Chronicles 7:14

I believe July 5th could be a real kairos moment for the Church in the United States. Because of the emphasis on grace, tolerance and love over the past few decades, American churches have substantially lost track of the God of justice and holiness who so powerfully moved in great revivals of conscience and holiness in past generations.

It’s proper to say that the God of the Universe is love (1 John 4:3), but he is also infinitely holy and pure and calls his followers “to be holy for I am holy” (1 Peter 1:16).

On July 5th we need to have a heart-to-heart encounter with the God of both love and holiness. We need to let him search our hearts, resurrect our conscious awareness of sin in our lives, and empower us to cast off the stuff of the flesh and serve Him and people around us with holy fear and abundant grace.

We need to be complete followers of the living God. We can’t fly our spiritual airplane with only the wing of grace. We also need the wing of inner and outer purity.

“Lord—I give you access to my inner being to convict, cleanse and change me into your glorious image. Make me like Jesus both inside and out. Amen.
